| The Apostle Peter tells us that we will be "judged by our works." (I Peter 1:17) Jesus declared that He will come and judge us by our works. In Revelation 3 Jesus reveals " I know your works." This is not something we should be afraid of, but rather, be thankful that God cares and loves us to such a depth that He reveals His ways to us! The entire religious world thinks that God looks at the heart, or, that He judges us based upon the motivation of our hearts. But that is not what the Bible says. Jesus declared in John 5:22 that "the Father judges no one, but has committed all judgement to His Son" Judgement has never been an issue with God! He has made provision for you! When the scripture says that we are judged by our works, it is telling us that a genuine heart change will be seen through genuine works of God! God doesn't look at your heart, no! He looks at your works! Remember, Jesus said, "You will know them by their fruits" So, the motivation of our hearts, what we intend to do but never get around to do, the inner desire that never takes on expression means nothing and produces little. A heart filled with religion and compromise will be seen by the outward works of envy, resentment, mistrust, jealousy and the like. But and heart changed by the love of God, one who has received the cleansing power of the blood, one who is continually being filled with the life and power of the Holy Spirit has a completely different kind of "work" revealed: love in the midst of unloveliness; joy in the midst of sorrow; peace in the midst of the storm; faith in a world of unbelief; miracles that cannot be explained through natural reasoning; hearts and cities transformed by the gospel of Jesus Christ. I Peter 1:17 says He judges without partiality. What does that mean? Light is light and darkness is darkness. Flesh is flesh and spirit is spirit. The new is the new and the old is the old. Sin is sin and righteousness is righteousness. Let what is working in you be the works of God. And let them out! Don't be afraid to express your love and your light. Take off the old and put on the new. Let your life be set apart completely and receive all of the blessing which God has for you. |
